Rotary Awards Highlight Pridgen and Wheeler at Aiken Club

Aiken Rotary Club honored Bert Pridgen with the Youth Merit Award for saving Jeff Porter’s life on Oct 13 after Pridgen performed the Heimlich maneuver in a school band room incident. Ron Wheeler received a Paul Harris Fellow for a $1,000 Rotary Foundation donation.

Thirteen Charged In Break-Ins At South Carolina Schools

North Augusta authorities and neighboring sheriff departments arrested thirteen youths and two adults in a multi county break in ring targeting nine Aiken County and surrounding schools. The group stole meat and a GE microwave worth about 1330, most cash spent, with two juveniles detained. Investigators said entries were planned and timed near delivery days to avoid detection.
