Mount Pleasant tackles growth with traffic study and fees
Mount Pleasant city manager Mac Burdette outlined growth controls as the city expands from 23,000 residents in 1986 to 48,000 in 2000. The plan includes a $150,000 traffic study, roadway grading, modeling, and a transportation impact fee schedule to fund about $140 million in planned improvements. The council has seen seven of nine seats replaced over growth battles.
