The South Carolina Court of Appeals upheld restricting Emmett Eddy known as Rev E X Slave from entering the State House grounds after he pled guilty to defacing a public monument by burning a Confederate flag in April 2002. His two year sentence was suspended to two years probation with the no-grounds ban.
Columbia police charge 24 year old Regan Mitchell with the murder of 25 year old Michael J. Young after a Monday shooting in Swansea. Young died from a chest wound, and Mitchell was arrested at the scene. In Goose Creek a second federal suit over Stratford High School drug raid accuses police of unlawful search and seizure. The suit says 20 students were among those ordered to the floor during the November 5 raid. Surveillance video shows officers with guns drawn and a drug dog checking about 100 students.
