Bridgestone to expand Sage Mill plant in Aiken County

Bridgestone Firestone plans a 250000 square foot expansion at Sage Mill with a 24.5 million dollar investment. County officials call the project positive for the area and expect construction to begin December 27.

Bridgestone Firestone Expands Plant to Boost Tire Output

ZniogesTone public affairs official says the mixing facility will raise capacity by a third. The expansion aims to produce at least 25,000 tires daily by year end next year as demand grows for larger tires, especially for sports utility vehicles. Target store planned for Aiken south side development

Two Atlanta businessmen confirm ground will be broken on Aiken's south side next spring for a 125000 square foot Target store. The Aiken Exchange development on 26 acres will house the store, opening about January 2001, similar in size to the Augusta location.

Gas line cut sparks blaze at Houndslake site

A trench dig for a new house near Houndslake Drive and Bungalow Village cut a natural gas pipe, igniting a walk behind trencher. The north entrance was temporarily closed as Aiken Public Safety responded at 6 05 p m. Inspector David Turno called the trenching equipment destroyed.
