SRNS begins multi year SNF processing at SRS H Canyon
SRNS has launched a multi year program to process aluminum clad spent nuclear fuel at the Savannah River Site. The campaign will down blend uranium and render the material unusable for weapons, with end products destined for commercial reactors and waste vitrified at the site's Defense Waste Processing Facility. SRS officials say the work renews H Canyon's mission to separate uranium from SNF, a unique capability in the United States. Derrek Asberry of the Aiken Standard covers the site.
