Thanksgiving weekend brings five grandmothers visit to Aiken area
Aiken and surrounding area residents hosted a large Thanksgiving weekend gathering. Cheryl Ann Glover and brother Christopher were joined by their five grandmothers, mothers, mothers in law, and relatives from Hickory North Carolina Ohio Naples and Ohio. The events included a bridal shower for Donna Harmon and plans for a January 1 1977 wedding in the Wall family, with football trips to Athens to see Georgia beat Georgia Tech and other family dinners and luncheons at local clubs.

Local Contestant Debby Simons Seeks State Finalist Honor
Miss Debby Simons of Aiken has been chosen as a state finalist in the Miss South Carolina Internationale Teen State Finals to be held in Orangeburg on December 17 and 18. Contestants are judged on scholarship leadership poise and appearance. Simons will write and deliver a 100 word patriotic essay Our American Heritage of Freedom. State winners receive an all expense paid trip to the National Finals in Washington and a 9 day travel scholarship to London Amsterdam and Paris.
