Aiken Newcomers Club hosts author Marti Healy

The Aiken Newcomers Club heard local columnist Marti Healy discuss her book The Rhythm of Selby and shared excerpts from her forthcoming novel. Young musicians Rachel Moore and Lawrence Moore performed Christmas carols at the luncheon at Houndslake Country Club.

Scott Family Keeps Christmas Float Tradition Alive

The Scott family and friends continue a multi year Christmas float tradition with an 86 foot display titled Santa's Land 2006. Thomas Scott organizes weeks of work crafting moving features including a swing train carousel candy canes and a Ferris wheel. The 2004 Smoky Mountain Christmas float started after the death of Scott's uncle Ray Raymond who began building floats in the mid 70s. This year the float earned first place in the Aiken Jaycees Christmas Parade and top awards in two other local parades.
