House Majority Leader Dick Armey announces his retirement praising the Republican majority for advancing conservative aims such as peace through strength and supply-side economics. He tells colleagues they should be proud of what the party has accomplished in its time in the majority.
Economists say the Fed has likely ended its aggressive credit easing as the central bank preserves a very low policy rate. Analysts point to the rate at its lowest level since the Kennedy presidency and expect limited further cuts.
