South Carolina Guard to come home on holiday leave
About 200 South Carolina Army National Guard members will return home for the holidays after $35,000 was raised for their bus transportation from Wisconsin. Lowe's Home Improvement contributed $25,000 to fund the 10 day leave, prompted by employee appeals. Private donations are needed as federal rules prohibit government-paid travel during leave. The group includes the 1222nd Combat Engineers from Fort Mill and volunteers from training at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.
