Court rejects challenge to 1971 Selective Service Act
A federal court in Los Angeles ruled that the 1971 act does not create a 90 day moratorium on inductions after it took effect September 28. Judge Irving Hill dismissed a class action by the ACLU arguing the carryover from 1948 law imposed a halt on draft orders for Southern California counties.
