Hembree charged in 1992 Gastonia cemetery killing

Gastonia police say Danny Robbie Hembree Jr. 47 was charged with first degree murder in the 1992 death of Deborah Denise Ratchford found in a Gastonia cemetery. The arrest followed related charges from weekend murders of two women in North Carolina and additional robbing cases in Charlotte. Investigators link the 1992 case to the later slayings of Randi Dean Saldana and Heather Marie Catterton. A Coast Guard boat collision in Charleston Harbor is under NTSB inquiry with no fatalities reported.
