Death Penalty Decision Delayed in Double Child Drowning Case

Union DP Solicitor Tom Pope postponed the decision on seeking the death penalty for Susan Smith, 23, charged with murder in the October 25 drowning deaths of her sons Michael, 3, and Alex, 14 months. A written confession from November 3 states she let the car roll into John D. Long Lake with the boys inside. the decision is slated for the week of January 16, the start of the 1995 Circuit Court session.
