Frances Bavier Emmy winning actress famed as Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show died at home in Siler City at about 7 p.m. Wednesday at 86 after heart problems. A New York City native and Columbia College alumnus with extensive stage experience, she had recently left Chatam Hospital.

A gunman entered the University of Montreal engineering school and fatally shot 14 women, wounding nine others before dying by his own actions. Police found a three page anti woman letter on his body. The attacker, in his mid 20s, shouted feminists inspired revenge as he targeted female students and ordered the men out of a classroom. The shooting is the worst massacre in Canadian history with most victims female engineers. The killer’s motives referenced in a note blamed women for personal failures.
