Graniteville Christmas tree lighting kicks off season

A crowd gathered at Hickman Hall in Graniteville for the annual Christmas tree lighting, featuring music from 11-year-old Seth Randall and the Leavelle McCampbell Middle School chorus. The deodar cedar, planted rather than cut, stands about 20 feet tall as plans unfold for Hickman Hall to serve as a community visioning center honoring William Gregg and Graniteville history. Lighting failed briefly due to cold-weather laser tech, with a warm-up needed before full illumination.
