North Augusta man gets probation for mail fraud and weapon scheme
In federal court a North Augusta man received three years probation and 193650.61 dollars in restitution for mail fraud involving illegal Maxim machine guns and false information to ATF. The case cited a statement with a false count and subsequent warrants confirming possession of illegal parts and guns.

Distillery operation arrests tied to welfare check and drugs
Johnnie Williams Jr 69 of Trenton along with Tina Piersma 30 and Desmond Curry 23 were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and other offenses after investigators and social services workers conducted welfare checks on children. Police also report a separate statutory rape investigation and related admissions. Bella Cucina Trattoria on Pine Log Road has closed after operating since 2005 replacing a Fazoli's. The site housed a renovated building with Italian cuisine and New York style pizza before closing three weeks ago.
