Parade-goers braved showers and 50s temperatures to enjoy Palmetto Christmas. John Hurd and Gennie Rabom described the festive mood as participants waved and performed along the route. Some entries backed out due to weather concerns.
Sixth graders at Kennedy Middle School dissect dogfish sharks as part of a tri yearly oceanography unit led by teachers Kim Hawley and Kaye McNeil. The project aims to expose grades 6 8 to hands on science, with former students recalling the sharks.
City workers and volunteers prepare Hopelands Gardens for the 15th annual Christmas in Hopelands. From December 9 to 12 and 14 to 19 and 21 to 23 and 26 and 27, the displays will run 6 to 9 p.m. daily. Alicia Davis, recreation coordinator, says nearly 100000 lights will illuminate the scene, exceeding last year’s display.
December schedule lists Millrook Baptist Church events on the 7th and 12th from 7 to 8 pm. Palmetto Christmas Choir performs December 16 from 7 to 8 pm. Smith Hazel Praise Dancers join December 17 from 7 to 8 pm.
