Pecans See High Quality But Low Harvest This Year in Georgia
In Albany and across Georgia, pecan growers report very good quality but far fewer nuts produced this season. Sunnyland Farms and Ison Farming Co. executives note reduced nut sets, despite record prices, due to a short crop year and tough growing conditions. Georgia remains the nation’s largest pecan producer with major tree concentrations in Dougherty, Mitchell and Lee counties.
