Angela Johnson, 23, the first and only woman firefighter in Rock Hill, files a sexual harassment suit in U S District Court in Columbia. She alleges mentors pressured back rubs and suggestive language, naming Fire Chief R W Hoffman and citing battalion Chief William Scoggins and firefighter Charlie Sizemore as the harassers. A Palmetto Project survey finds whites more optimistic than blacks about race relations in South Carolina with 78 percent of whites and 9 percent of blacks hopeful. The study notes differences in views on job opportunities and criminal justice, and highlights churches as a key avenue for improvement.
The Aiken Parks and Recreation Christmas Craft Show drew thousands to the H Odell Weeks Center with more than 200 crafters offering ceramics wood crafts clothing jewelry and stained glass.
