Residents will tour Columbia historic houses in December open houses and Christmas events. Robert E L Park's 24 year yard display draws crowds as the governor hosts the Carolighting. Open houses run December 9 to 14 with period costumes and tours of Rose Hill Beaufort Charleston and Union area homes.

Man Survives 135-Foot Jump From Grace Memorial Bridge

A 22-year-old Charleston man survived a 135 foot leap from Grace Memorial Bridge after telling his father he would end his life. Ashley Gardner suffered rib and back injuries as rescuers found him in the water beside a running car on the bridge. Police say the man had been distressed after a girlfriend-related argument and was heard crying for help as officer Tice located him.
