First graders explore geography with USCA students pirates theme
First graders at J D Lever 1 Elementary and 11 USC Aiken education majors teamed with Dr Tim Lintner to launch Geography First a weekly hands on program. Students used a pirate themed geography lesson to learn directions north south east and west and mapped a world quilt with clues. The project engages six first grade classes and connects classroom maps to a display in the school hallway.
