A donated 50 foot blue spruce toppled a crane in Albany Oregon causing a crane to fall onto Peggy and husband Schwartzes garage and driveway. The tree broke a water line flooded the yard and garage. Power lines were downed causing malfunctioning traffic lights and morning gridlock.
Reports of blue lights a fireball and a meteor shower startled residents and coastal observers from Virginia to New York. Emergency crews Coast Guard and state police fielded calls starting about 12 40 a m as a NASA Wallops Flight Center attendant described a bright blue glow and two white fire balls. Local officials blamed a meteor shower after receiving widespread sightings from Virginia to New Jersey.
Winter returns with a low in the upper 20s and a high in the upper 50s for tomorrow. Details continue on Page 6A.
