Aiken city and county offices will close Monday for Labor Day along with North Augusta city offices and sanitation. Trash collection shifts. Monday routes move to Tuesday and Tuesday routes to Wednesday with normal service resuming Thursday. Banks post offices and the Aiken Standard hours also note closures and a Tuesday reopen.
A 400 foot television tower to be built behind the Aiken County Office Complex will boost emergency services communications and instructional broadcasting. Approved by the county council the tower will be built by the South Carolina Educational Television Center on county land near Richland Avenue with a $2 annual lease. It will serve USC Aiken Aiken County public schools Aiken Community Hospital Aiken Technical College and law enforcement agencies. Construction starts in December.
