Burn victims bond with fire buddies at special camp
Aiken DPS Inspector David Turno describes the second annual Camp Can Do for 6 to 15 year old burn survivors at Camp St. Christopher Seabrook Island. About 50 campers and counselors swim sing karaoke and wear firefighting gear in relay races with firefighters from across the state. The camp is funded by Aluminum Cans for Burned Children and supported by the Medical University of South Carolina and the South Carolina State Fire Marshal's Office. Turno notes lasting bonds form between campers and firefighters and plans his wedding around next November’s session.
