Truck Driving Stats Show Industry Growth and Safety Gains
The South Carolina Trucking Association reports 1986 to 1996 gains with employment up 26.4 percent to 9 million and commercial truck drivers up 23.1 percent. Fatal large-truck accidents fell 35 percent as mileage rose 40 percent, while truck-related fatalities declined 8.1 percent.
