Capture Of Gator Solves Mystery
For 20 years hunters reported missing dogs in Blackwater River State Forest. A 500 pound alligator turned a game trail into a dining spot, swallowing six dogs including Flora, Rufus Godwin's $5,000 Walker hound. State contractors captured the gator on Aug. 15, stuffing its mouth, hogtying it, and recovering collars from several dogs, revealing their disappearances were due to the gator in a swamp.
