Alexander trip raised plane cost and tour questions
The Defense Department said four other lawmakers traveled with Rep. Alexander and that the only available plane was the one reserved for five congressmen. The Air Force reported a bill of 56 364 for the military DC 9 charter and denied any request for a smaller plane. Alexander defended his plan, noting he aimed to achieve trip goals with one member and accepted responsibility.

Charleston Man Uncovers Overpriced Air Force Part
Charleston man James M Hartnett Jr alerted the Air Force to an overpriced electrical connector used in C 141 fuel pumps. Officials say the savings could total about 98000 annually and Sundstrand may refund 180000 for the costly part. Hartnett won 3635 from the overpricing program and noted prices rose from 300 to 1916 over eight years.
