USC Aiken has started fall classes and public schools in Aiken County will begin Tuesday. The Aiken Standard will publish coverage next week detailing expectations for the current year and future years.

The Commerce Department report shows the leading index rising 4.6 percent in July after a revised 1.5 percent gain in June, with nine of ten indicators improving led by a drop in layoffs and a jump in money supply. Analysts caution the July figure is preliminary and subject to revision.
Herbert Glover, a North Augusta resident with ALS, has received ongoing support from the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center.
