Aiken church serves as relief hub for Hurricane Andrew aid

Foreman Memorial Baptist Church in New Ellenton will collect relief goods from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. next week at 207 Smith Ave. Items in demand include paper products baby supplies bottled water and canned goods. Aiken County primary results certified after Tuesday vote

Election officials will certify the Tuesday primary results today at the Aiken County Council Annex. GOP Tommy Hartnett defeated Charles Thomas for U S Senate challenger as Fritz Hollings faces him in November. A runoff will decide the state senate seat between Greg Ryberg and Sonny Sanders. Economic growth falters as consumers spend less

US GDP growth slowed in the April-June quarter to a 1.4 percent annual rate after a strong first quarter.
