Strategy Cuts SRS Pink Slips Amid Restructuring Plan

Savannah River Site officials credit careful management and a restructuring plan for a reduced layoff toll. About 1,900 positions are gone via early retirement, voluntary separation, attrition, and completed projects. Of the remaining 700, 400 come from temporary staff and subcontractors, 200 from construction workers. Only about 100 full-time WSRC, Bechtel Savannah River Inc., or Wackenhut Services Inc. workers face termination next month.

Heritage Corridors Aim to Boost South Carolina Tourism
