Second Judicial Circuit Solicitor J. Strom Thurmond Jr and staff joined the Steve Rodman Memorial Golf Tournament at Woodside Plantation to benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Aiken County. Proceeds support the center and its work with abuse victims. Steve Rodman, the namesake and former assistant solicitor, died of cancer in 2011 at age 40.
Holly Shoaf-O’Kula and three church friends woke early to reach Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains for Jimmy Carter’s Sunday School lesson. They moved up the trip after learning Carter’s cancer had spread to his brain. Carter, 90, spoke about love and conflict with humility and humor.
