Carter Tackles Farm Policy at Iowa State Fair
Jimmy Carter accused the Ford administration of neglecting the family farmer and consumer and failing to establish a stable agricultural policy in Des Moines. He vowed to remove agriculture leadership from corporate ties, ensure production cost coverage, and oppose foreign embargoes on U S farm products. He urged ending windfall grain profits for insiders and pledged action against grain inspection corruption. Carter spoke to about 5000 at a Des Moines rally after Iowa caucus momentum.
