Casper's Rise at USC Aiken From Two-Year Start to Four-Year Growth
William C Casper led USC Aiken from a sleepy 212-student two year college in 1963 to a thriving four-year campus with 1,216 students by 1976. The campus expanded from one building to a 144-acre site adding the Gregg-Graniteville Library and a 52 000 square foot Student Activities Building and later an Auxiliary Services Building. The school now offers five undergraduate divisions and several graduate programs though degrees remain from the main Columbia campus.

Inflation Eases as July CPI Rises 0.6 Percent
The July consumer price index rose 0.6 percent, keeping annual inflation at 5.4 percent for the first seven months of the year.
