Brazil Registers New Cholera Cases

Eight more Brazilians are diagnosed with cholera raising Brazil’s total to 59. The cases were reported in remote Amazon towns near Peru and Colombia as health officials plan seven medical teams for seven towns along the western border to curb the outbreak.

Murder warrant issued for nurse in Alabama case

A nurse, Joseph Dewey Akin, 34, of Marietta Georgia, is sought on a murder warrant over the March death of a critical care patient at Cooper Green Hospital Birmingham. Jefferson County DA David Barber said Georgia probes 17 suspicious deaths at North Fulton Regional Hospital Roswell where Akin worked June through December 1990. No Georgia charges filed yet.
