Judge tosses South Carolina suit over plutonium fines
A U S district judge ruled South Carolina cannot pursue $200 million in fines against the federal government for failing to remove weapons-grade plutonium from the Savannah River Site. The decision says the fines hinge on Congress funding, which was never provided. The state, led by AG Alan Wilson, plans to appeal.
