Graniteville rezoning hearing ends with postponement vote
After a public hearing the Aiken County Planning Commission tabled a large rezoning proposal for 2225 acres in Graniteville and Horse Creek Valley until September. About 20 residents attended and will meet with Joel Duke to relay concerns on Rural Development to RC LD and AP zoning changes. The new draft keeps some parcels as RUD and shifts others to AP or LD. critics say property rights would be restricted. The commission will review a third draft next month before sending a recommendation to County Council.

North Augusta woman charged with arson
Jacqueline Nicole Lynn, 32, was arrested Wednesday on Horseshoe Road in North Augusta and charged with arson after a structure fire reported around 2 PM. Police found her seated in the front yard as heavy smoke and flames issued from the residence, with a witness recounting she tossed items from the door and repeatedly said everyone knows.
