Gordon Weakens to Cat 1 as Azores Brace for Storm
The National Hurricane Center reported Hurricane Gordon centered about 220 miles west southwest of San Miguel Island in the Azores. Gordon moved east-northeast at 21 mph with 90 mph winds and could bring dangerous surf, heavy rain, and strong winds to the eastern Azores as it nears Sunday. Residents in the archipelago prepared, following precautions and waiting for the storm’s arrival.
