Aiken Standard thanks readers for calls and photos as the paper continues its reader submission effort. The second week yielded many pictures while few reader written stories appeared in the last seven days.
Cindy Freeman wins fifty dollars for a submission showing her feeding a deer and an alligator at Hunting Island South Carolina while on vacation. Joey McGowan caught two sharks Rex and Adam Freeman caught multiple fish. Freeman says the trip was the best vacation. Susan Sand witnessed a dramatic rescue at the Westside Bowery choking incident.
The notice states that submissions must be no longer than one typed page and that star written stories do not qualify. It notes that most photos printed are too poor in quality and requests negatives or prints or the original digital photo file. It adds that the weekly winner is announced each Wednesday.
An Aiken Standard reader named Susan provided information that enabled the paper to report a life saving incident. Her quick call made the Aiken Standard the only area media outlet to cover the story.
