AP reports remaining Marshall Tucker Band members will be inducted into the South Carolina Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame on September 19. George McCorkle, Paul Riddle, Jerry Eubanks, and Doug Gray are named among the original members to be honored in the tribute.
South Carolina rose from 20th to 17th in turnout with 64 percent of registered voters casting ballots in November, according to the state Election Commission. Brown also cited former Democratic House Ways and Means chairmen Tom Huff and Roland Smith as fair weather defectors during Gov. Carroll Campbell's era, noting their later committee appointments.
Brown says it amazes him when elected South Carolina Democrats switch parties citing ideological differences while Democrats have worked for education and economic opportunities. State Democratic Party executive director Scott Sokol disputes a loan announcement and questions if the Republican Party is selling state power.
