Bond Denied in Slaying of Aiken Woman

Byron Andrew Barnes, 20, charged with murder in the July death of Mary Fields of Aiken, had bond denied in General Sessions Court before Judge Luke N. Brown. The judge delayed bond pending more information from state investigators as more facts emerged from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. Fields, 51, of College Acres, was last seen by her daughter and son.

Aiken SAT scores boost state lag on national average
