Twenty North Augusta residents along with two Augusta residents were indicted on 45 counts for racketeering and fraud tied to schemes to obtain life insurance, food stamps, Medicaid funds and car financing. They were not arrested and a federal court hearing is expected soon. The Murphy Village Irish Traveler community straddles Aiken and Edgefield counties.
