Community events schedule offers health screenings and fairs
Regency Hospice hosts free blood pressure screening and health fair at Eden Gardens on Silver Bluff Road Tuesday from 10 to noon. Free cholesterol screening at Kmart North Augusta Tuesday and Wednesday 10 to 5. Also a Jaycees membership drive with spaghetti dinner Tuesday at 7:30. SRS committee meets Tuesday 5 at North Augusta Community Center. Legends of Georgia Championship Wrestling event Tuesday 8 pm at Crown Christian Center in Aiken with Fan Fest 6 to 8. Proceeds aid missions.

Cumbee Center Receives 218000 Grant for Domestic Violence Aid
The Cumbee Center in Aiken will receive a one time 218000 grant over two years to fund a second licensed therapist, equipment, and client services. The money comes from a 366000 allotment in the 2004 Omnibus Appropriations Bill with the remainder awarded to shelters in Greenville and Anderson counties. The grant is supported by U.S. Senator Hollings who aids the funding.
