The firm requests a variance to extend hours until early morning to finish by September 28. City Manager Richard Pearce reviews the proposal which currently limits work after 10 p m on weekdays and after 6 a m.
A white oak along South Boundary near Kershaw Street fell around midnight, knocking out power for about 300 residents and blocking traffic for hours. City Horticulturist Tom Rapp noted no decay at the trunk base and cited a weak root system as a possible underlying issue. Power was restored later that morning.
Aiken County Assessor Rick Jantzen outlined how mass appraisal assigns property values to council members. He cited base land values, noted golf front properties at 223 200 and non golf front at 93 000, and explained adjustments by property features.
