Fishing updates from Lake Jocassee to Lake Hartwell and beyond note good to excellent action on largemouth and striped bass, crappie and white bass. Largemouths hit topwater and crankbaits. striped bass show early morning runs with live bait and bucktails. crappie bite best at night around brush and docks.
Water levels rise at Point yet conditions are clear and 88 degrees. Largemouth bass fair on artificial worms near banks. striped bass fair on shad and live herring with down rods at 25 feet. white perch slow to jig off bottom. crappie excellent with minnows over deep brush and piers. catfish very good on live herring and cut shad deep. bream and shellcrackers excellent with redworms and crickets 4 to 8 feet deep. Lake Moultrie reports good largemouth bass with spinnerbaits and plastics near docks. striped bass good with jigging and down rigs.
Rods in 30 feet of water with live herring near the powerhouse and trolling stretch 25s when live bait fails. Night fishing is most productive. Crappie Fair with small to medium minnows and Beetlespins around attractors and brush piles. Catfish.
The note lists cut shad, herring, men haden, live large shiners and nightcrawlers at 30 to 35 feet for bream and crickets, redworms, and small minnows around manmade attractors. Shellcrackers respond to redworms and green worms along riverbanks and points with fair to excellent results.
