Enrollment holds steady in Aiken County schools

The Aiken County School District opened with 23 537 students on the first day of school as Dr Linda Eldridge notes smooth operations and an expected growth to about 24 424 by day 11. She cites eight year data showing steady increases of 1 300 to 1 600 students from day one to day 11.

Man’s emergency tracheotomy sparks medical debate downtown

A man choked on steak at a downtown restaurant and a dinner companion, Ragaiy Zidan, allegedly used a steak knife and straw to perform an emergency tracheotomy. Thoracic surgeon Dr Thomas Paxton disputed the account saying the airway was not opened and the patient bled. The hospital cites federal rules shielding patient identity and condition.
