Filthy Rich Man Collapses On Street In San Francisco

An 88 year old man Chester Louie collapsed outside a police station in San Francisco carrying $80,000 and 28 bankbooks. Hospital staff found the money and placed it in a safe as Louie underwent surgery and was reported in satisfactory condition.

Deaver Warned Of Activities By Reagan Officials

A House subcommittee report says Michael K. Deaver and his firm were warned at least three times by Reagan administration officials that their activities could be improper. The study says Deaver continued lobbying for Puerto Rico tax credits despite opposition, and testified falsely about his lobbying. The panel adopted the finding 17 to 0 and urged independent counsel to consider perjury charges while examining possible conflict-of-interest violations.

South Carolina May Phase Out Student Bus Drivers

The State Board of Education reviews an MGT of America report proposing a three year plan to replace student bus drivers with an all adult driver workforce for public schools. Estimated cost near 29 million in salary, with fringe benefits, and potential savings on insurance and repairs. Rural districts may face driver shortages. targets include 90 percent adult drivers by 1989-90 and 100 percent with a minimum age of 21. Two phasing options: three year rollout starting 1987-88 or pilot in four districts then three year spread.
