Aiken County Parks Earns Grant for Salley Art Program
The Aiken County Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism received a South Carolina Arts Commission grant to support the Summer Art Discover Program in Salley. The funding sustains efforts to expand arts interest and honors artists Sharon Taylor Padgett Elise Lewis Fogle Sarah Jolley and Jennifer Reynolds. Grant funds also came from the John and Susan Bennet Memorial Arts Fund at Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina.

Bluebird society to meet. fire ant talk and trail updates
The Central Savannah River Bluebird Society holds a Tuesday 7 p.m. meeting at Birds & Butterflies in Aiken. Clemson agent Vicky Bertagnolli will discuss fire ant biology and control. Trail monitors will report on 281 bluebird houses across 24 trails in Aiken and Aiken County. An update on hosting the 2013 North American Bluebird Society convention in Aiken will be discussed.
