Aiken sets extension for Southside hotel builder
The Aiken City Council approved a 6 0 1 vote granting Bansi Patel until April 30 2005 to finish the controversial hotel project and to obtain water service from New Ellenton CPW. Patel missed a July 31 deadline and delays cited include the deaths of two architects. Meybohm said completion could occur by late November or early December.

Aiken County Schools Set to Welcome Nearly 25000 Students
The Aiken County School District plans to open with about 25 000 students on Wednesday. Deputy Superintendent Dr Bill Gallman says only three or four district wide vacancies remain after filling over 140 positions. Four schools will take in extra students and more than 200 families moved children to schools of choice.
