Southerners drink most alcohol by region in 1987 study

A study by Impact based on diaries from 12,000 people found Southerners drank more alcoholic beverages than any other U S region in 1987. Households with incomes above 35000 also drank the most, with the research compiled by NFO Research Inc. of Toledo covering location time of day sex age region and income.

Social Security Errors May Cut Retirees' Checks

Ten years of mismatched employer earnings data could cut Social Security checks for about 40 million recent retirees by 50 dollars a month. GAO and union officials warn of ongoing backlogs and say a SSA IRS reform plan is not enough without more funding and manpower.
