The Labor Department reported the July Producer Price Index was flat while June rose 0.2 percent and May fell 0.1 percent. Energy costs fell 0.9 percent while core inflation edged up 0.1 percent. bond yields slipped as 30 year Treasuries dropped to 6.72 percent.
Washington AP reports 1995 saw 6 210 workplace deaths, an average of 17 daily, down 6 percent from 1994. Bureau of Labor Statistics notes declines after rises in 1993 and 1994, with fewer firearm homicides and fewer commercial airline crashes contributing to the drop.
