Ridge Spring man faces multiple sexual assault charges

Charles D. Mitchell, 40, of Owl Branch Road in Ridge Spring, is charged with six counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and six counts of lewd act upon a minor related to alleged assaults on a 10 year old girl between February 2006 and April 2007. He is held at the Aiken County detention center. A fundraiser for the United Way honoring Sgt. Jason Sheppard will be held Friday from 6 to 10 pm at the Aiken Co op benefiting United Way with tickets three dollars, children under six free. Contact Chris Zeasar or Jennifer Morgan for details.

Aiken County Education Board Opens Superintendent Search Meetings

The Aiken County Education Board adds a Thursday 5 PM meeting at 1000 Brookhaven Drive for district employees to give input on superintendent qualifications. Previous meetings covered four of five attendance areas. final session is Area 2 North Augusta High School on August 18 at 7 PM. Applications due August 31.
